Following the success of its first plant in the African region, Ranbaxy South Africa Private Ltd, a subsidiary of the Indian pharmaceutical giant Ranbaxy Laboratories plans to set up its second manufacturing plant at Johannesburg, South Africa. Ranbaxy has a total of three manufacturing plants in the entire African region.

The United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) has issued a warning letter to Sun Pharmaceuticals as the company was found violating manufacturing norms in its Cranbury facility in New Jersey. Sun Pharma has stated that the FDA has withheld approval of pending new drug applications listing the facility as the manufacturer.
